About Car Value Back
Car Value Back exists to give drivers the clear, do-it-yourself path to recovering a car's lost value after a not-at-fault accident — the path that many claim companies and law firms would rather you pay for.
Why this site
After a crash that wasn't your fault, your car is worth less on resale even after flawless repairs. That loss is real, and in most third-party situations you can pursue it. But when people search for help, they mostly find sales pages that pitch a service, or forum threads with scattered answers. Almost no one just hands you the exact steps, the numbers, and the templates. That is the gap this site fills.
Who runs it
My name is Andrea. I research and write every guide here, and I keep them updated. I am not a lawyer and this site is not a law firm — it is an independent, consumer-first resource.
How the content is made
Each guide is built from primary sources: state statutes, state Department of Insurance guidance, and relevant case law such as the Georgia decision that shaped modern diminished value practice. Where a rule or deadline varies by state, we say so and point you to where to confirm it. We show both the 17c formula insurers commonly use and the market-value method that often produces a fairer number, so you can see the full picture.
Editorial independence
We are not paid by insurers, and we do not take a cut of your claim. The site is supported by advertising. Our goal is simple: help you understand your options and act on them yourself when that makes sense.
Important
Everything here is general information, not legal, financial, or insurance advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Rules and deadlines vary by state and can change — always verify with your state Department of Insurance or a licensed attorney. Questions? Email [email protected].
